Hours of registration, public and participant access
The Exhibit Hall will be open to the general public (non-registered) from 11:00 to 17:00 every day from 2-9 September except for 8 September.

Transportation
SpeediShuttle offers a multi-person, multi-stop service from the airport to the Waikīkī area, where official IUCN Congress hotels are located. Prices start at US$ 15.48 for one-way travel, including two free bags. Travel time is approximately 45-60 minutes.

TheBus, Honolulu’s public transportation service, will get you around Honolulu and to and from the airport. It takes about 45-60 minutes to get from the airport to the Waikīkī area (buses #19 and #20). Each trip (including two free transfers) costs US$ 2.50 (exact change is required). Bus routes and schedules are available on Google Maps.
By foot: Most of the IUCN Congress hotels are less than a 30-minute walk from the Convention Center. Pedestrian path maps are available on the IUCN Congress mobile app.
The Pink Trolley double-decker line links most of the IUCN Congress hotels to the Hawaiʻi Convention Center. It costs US$ 2.00 per ride, or pick up complimentary ride tickets at the Information Desk in the Hawaiʻi Convention Center Lobby. A map in the lobby of your hotel will indicate the closest trolley stop and best walkway to the Convention Center.
The trolley runs every 10 minutes from 07:30 to 21:30 (8:30 pm on 4 and 5 September). Get off at stop #8 (Waikīkī Gateway Hotel) and walk for approximately 11 minutes up Kalākaua Avenue to the Hawaiʻi Convention Center, or get off at stop #12 (Ala Moana Shopping Center) and walk 12 minutes via the Ala Moana Center and Kapiolani Boulevard. Follow the IUCN Congress logo signs on the walking path. Our Aloha guides will be standing by to help you along the way. Always stay on the designated route and mind the signs. On 1 September, extra trolley services will run from 6:00 until 7:20 am from trolley stop 3 to 12.
Stop at the Guest Services Kiosk (Street Level, Center Court) for a complimentary Premier Passport filled with exclusive Ala Moana Center shopping offers and promotions.
Outrigger East hotel guests may travel on the Pink Line Trolley for free by showing their room key.
Aqua Palms and Aqua Waikīkī Pearl hotel guests may travel on the complimentary Aqua Hotels shuttle between Waikīkī and the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Hours of operation are 08:30 to 19:59 and 10:00 to 20:30, respectively.

Weather and dress code
September is one of the hottest months in Honolulu, with temperatures of up to 30°C – please dress accordingly. The dress code for IUCN Congress 2016 is ‘hot weather business casual’ i.e. short-sleeved button-down shirts with khaki pants or dress slacks for men and tops or dresses with or without sleeves for women. Sandals are acceptable and there is no need for stockings. Long-sleeved tops may be necessary for air-conditioned indoor spaces.
Security – Hawaiʻi Convention Center
Your official personalised IUCN Congress 2016 badge is required for entry. Please wear it at all times. Badges are non-transferable.
Attendees will be required to go through security clearance, which could involve a metal detector screen.
All bags and containers will be subject to a search as a condition of entry. No person in possession of a prohibited item will be allowed entry. Furthermore, any items possessed in violation of state or federal law will be turned over to law enforcement, and those in possession denied entry. The following items are prohibited within the Hawaiʻi Convention Center: firearms, weapons, alcohol, illegal drugs.

Sustainability at the Hawaiʻi Convention Center
Compost and recycling
Please use the bins provided – look for composting and recycling stations throughout the IUCN Congress venue and follow the directions for proper sorting and disposing of waste. Compostable material will be collected and sent for use on local farms.
BYOB and BYOB discount
IUCN strongly discourages the use of plastic bags and water bottles. These products will not be available at the IUCN Congress venue. Bring your own reusable bag and refillable water bottle (BYOB). Water stations will be located around the venue for free, quick and easy refills. Participants who ‘BYOB’ will be offered a US$ 0.75 discount on coffee and tea per 12 ounces/0.35 litres.
You’re eating local!
Items on the daily menu for all IUCN Congress participants will use 50 to 80% locally sourced ingredients. When ordering food, request portion sizes adapted to your appetite to help reduce food waste. Leftover food will be donated to local charities.

Sustainable tourism
Green Hotels
Choose a location that enables you to get around easily by public transport, bicycle and on foot during your stay in Honolulu.
Stay at hotels with certified green credentials. A list of certified hotels is available on the IUCN Congress website. Please let hotel management know that their sustainability initiatives motivated you to stay at their hotel.
Inter-island travel
Most travel between islands requires short flights. Hawaiian Airlines, ranked the second most fuel-efficient airline in the United States in a report from the International Council on Clean Transportation, offers inter-island flights.
Ferry service is only available between Maui and Lānaʻi and Maui and Molokaʻi.
Please mitigate carbon emissions by contributing to the IUCN Congress Carbon Mitigation Fund, which will be invested in the Cordillera Azul National Park Project in Peru. Cordillera Azul avoids an annual loss of 6,800 hectares of forest (equivalent to 7,500 football fields).
Eat local

Mobile app
Use the IUCN Congress mobile app to find your way around, plan your schedule and connect with other conservationists. Registered participants can log in using their email address as their user name and registration confirmation number as their password (registration confirmation numbers can be found in your registration confirmation email).
The downloadable version of the app will work online and offline. It will work on iPads, android phones, iPhones (version iOS 8 and above). In addition, a web version is accessible from any device!
